When a retiree or Annuitant Dies:
Call DFAS at 1-800-321-1080. Be prepared to give the following information: Social Security number of deceased, date of death, name & address of next of kin, and who will be forwarding death certificate. DFAS customer service operator will help with any questions the caller may have. Also funeral directors will assist
with arrangements
